Place Preference System
Conditioned place preference (CPP) is a widely used behavioral paradigm to assess the rewarding properties of psychotropic drugs. Repeated drug treatment is paired with a distinct environment while a control treatment is paired with a different environment. When the animal has access to both environments, preference for the drug-paired cues will indicate the rewarding effects of the test drug. In addition, conditioned place preference can be also measured in the TSE Multi Conditioning System.
TSE Place Preference test boxes have easily exchangeable wall elements (white, gray, black & white stripes) and integrated lamps used to counterbalance preferences for specific compartments. Optional floor inserts with various surface qualities are used for tactile discrimination.
The system comes complete with easy-to-use Windows software. Data acquisition is started automatically after the animal has been placed in the box. Data analysis in the test trial includes number of visits, time spent and distance traveled in each compartment.
- Fully automated three-compartment test boxes for mice or rats
- Select from a variety of wall specifications & floor inserts to facilitate discrimination
- Closed dividers, tunnel gates, or manual or software-controlled doors
- High-resolution infrared sensors monitor entries into compartments and locomotor activity
- Up to 8 boxes can be operated simultaneously with one PC
